Peter Baczek, originally from Massachusetts, moved to the Bay Area in 1963.  He received his BA in Art with a concentration in Printmaking from San Jose State University in 1970.  He continued his studies in etching at Fort Mason Art Center in San Francisco.   He has been an Independent Artist since then, and has a studio in Oakland. 

Over the years he has been included in national and international art competitions, receiving numerous awards. He has participated in many group shows in galleries and museums, including the Berkeley Art Center, Triton Museum, Tokyo Art Museum, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Tucson Museum of Art and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor. He is in several permanent collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, Tucson Museum, California Palace of the Legion of Honor, The Janet Turner Print Museum, and the Library of Congress.

He is a member of the Boston Printmakers, the California Society of Printmakers, and served on the Society’s Board of Directors as its President, 2014-2015
